Residents of Andrew, Buchanan, Clinton and DeKalb Counties are encouraged to participate in the Region D’s Solid Waste plan update process in three different ways: attend a public meeting, review the draft plan update and take the survey. The first way residents can participate and let their opinions be heard is to attend an upcoming public hearing about solid waste management services in their respective counties this March. These meetings will provide information on current recycling/composting services in the four-county area, as well as household hazardous waste sites, landfills, transfer stations and waste haulers in the area. Maps will be available for viewing. The draft of the solid waste management plan will be available for review as well.

The Solid Waste Plan Update public meetings’ schedule is as follows:

Andrew County

Friday, March 6, from 2-4 pm……………………………………………………………………………….at Andrew County Courthouse

Buchanan County

Thursday, March 12, from 2-4 pm………………………………………………………………………at St. Joseph Convention and Visitor’s Bureau

Clinton County

Monday, March 23, from 2-4 pm……………………………………………………………………….at Clinton County Courthouse

DeKalb County

Friday, March 27, from 2-4 pm…………………………………………………………………………..at DeKalb County Courthouse

Another way for residents to participate is to review the plan update draft and provide feedback on the document. Read the plan here and comment on the document here.

A final way for residents to participate in the plan update is to take the recycling/waste survey to help Region D understand residents’ recycling knowledge and opinions. Take the survey here.
