Region D reports ongoing data to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MoDNR) that includes the amount of waste diverted through recycling and waste reduction initiatives. Below is the 2025 annual report, which showed the Region has received over $4.4 million in funding in its 33 years of service and in a year’s time, Region D helped divert more than 500 tons of waste with the help of member cities and counties.

Grant funds awarded by Region D— in cooperation with MoDNR— have allowed for the continuation of recycling programs in member cities like Stewartsville and Cameron, and member counties like Andrew and Buchanan. Annual grants are awarded for waste reduction efforts by individuals, non-profits, municipalities and counties.

The 2026 grant cycle will open in March 2026, so be sure to review the guidelines and application process beforehand at Region D Annual Grant – Region D Recycling & Solid Waste Management District.
